Here's how it works:
Public Media Metrics is an web measurement service developed specifically for web services in Public Radio, Public Television and related program and project sites. Our system is powered by Google Analytics, the program is a unique service providing an individual organization’s web data, organization to organization comparative data, as well as system wide analytics.
For $1,000 a year ($2.74 a day), you will receive all of the following benefits:
Monthly Comparative Reports
The reality is this: your company does not operate in a vacuum. It has competitors. It has "peers"--dozens of stations around the country that are, basically, doing what you are doing. PMM can help you answer a central question that every GM and webmaster asks: "How're we doing?" We can tell you the level of activity at other stations your size.
PMM is the first service to track and report basic station-to-station comparative data based upon type of station, market size and other viable comparisons. We can tell you where that activity is concentrated: is it in the stream launch area? the news pages? the on-demand video? the playlists?
Analytical Reports
We take our data and give it to a team of hand-picked media researchers. Our Analytic Reports provide perspective on patterns and trends in the marketplace as a whole, as well as examining specific elements of usability and functionality as they relates to website success.
Our analysts are all national-caliber professionals from commercial and non-profit media--TV, radio, print, and web. They provide intensive detailed quarterly research reports. Each report is focuses on a special area of station interest, such as:
- How do you drive new traffic through outbound emails,
- Is there a more effective way to promote your site on-air? (The answer is yes: promote specific user-benefits, rather than just generic "we have a site" promos.)
- How do you use the goal and funnel reports built into Google Analytics? This one of the most powerful analytics tools and very few stations understand how to use it effectively.
Over the last two years, we have identified some of the growth-drivers at stations that are setting the industry pace for online growth. We've identified the key elements of "companion sites"--streaming, program guides, playlists, etc.-- and we've developed a set of hypotheses about what it will take to make stations truly competitive.
Web Conferences
Web conferences are held every other month. They help those taking advantage of the service to improve their performance by better understanding the data presented and what it means to them as well as providing new and innovative applications to better navigate the online marketplace.
