February 2008 Report -

The homepage of minnesotapublicradio.org, a major regional news destination with link to Campaign 2008 section containing Select A CandidateElection and Politics at PubCast sites: We built the sections; Are they coming?

In this edition of Public Media Metrics we introduce two analysts who drill into the Google Analytics dashboard to look at visitor counts and pageviews in news/political/election features. We welcome Tim Davis, New Media specialist at Jacobs Media, Detroit, and Claude Galipeau, principal at the Galipeau Group, Toronto, and former director for New Media at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where he managed CBC.ca.

Their analysis can be found on pages 4 and 10 of our Fall 2007/Winter 2008 report, soon to be released in February.

They agree on two main points: across the board, traffic to politics/election areas appeared lower than expected, and something called Select A Candidate is generating a heck of a lot of traffic.

Our analysts' research summary presentations can be downloaded in our Documents and Downloads section, filed under "Presentations." PMM project participants will be notified when the full report is posted online.
